How not to inquire about an internship.

NOTE: This is an actual email sent to us.

From: Intern-seeking graduate student
To: Intern Burn
Subject: Intern

"Hey! Does your company provide Internships for graduate students?"

--

Dear Graduate student:

If you're applying for an internship, it might be good to specify one or more of the following: A) What type of internship you're interested in; B) Your resume; C) An introduction other than "Hey!" D) A closing that includes your name.

Just a thought.

Oh, and by the way -- considering how many people are seeking internships these days, do you really expect someone to be able to respond to an email like this? Why not make it easier on the person you'd like to hire you, and submit an internship application the same way you'd submit a job application? Just because you're applying for an internship doesn't mean you don't have to act professionally.

XO,
